Healing Information

Always clean area and dry thoroughly to ensure skin is clear of any ointment or soap residues.

I will put a bandage on your tattoo before you leave the studio. It will stay on for 24 hours. Then you will gently remove, wash your tattoo thoroughly with warm water and unscented soap and reapply a new bandage. The tattoo should be dry, no ointments or lotions. The second bandage will stay on for 5 days.

Leave the Recovery Derm Shield on for 5 days as recommended. It will protect your tattoo during it's healing process. After the 5-6 days, gently peel off the Derm Shield. This will work best while under warm, running water. Don’t rip it off like a bandaid. Once it has all been removed, wash your tattoo with unscented soap and warm water. Use unscented lotion for the remainder of the healing process.

Derm Shield protects your tattoo completely which reduces the chance of any infection or irritation to your tattoo. Derm Shield is water-resistant and can be kept on in the shower. It is important that you do not go swimming in pools, lakes, or hot tubs until the tattoo is fully healed. Derm Shield is also not UV resistant and is best to avoid the sun until your tattoo is healed. Following the removal of the second Derm Shield, apply scent-free lotion or lotions approved for tattoos.

It is common to have a fluid buildup underneath your bandage. Don’t be alarmed. It will be a mix of lymph fluid and ink. This is why you change it after 24 hours. To wash it all off and apply a clean bandage.
